Chemical Properties and Storage Guidelines

Calcium Hydroxide is a stable compound with a melting point at 580C (decomposes) and a density of 2.24 g/cm. It is non-poisonous but caustic, and should be handled with personal protective equipment due to its irritant nature. It should be stored in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area, away from acids and moisture. When handled and stored correctly, the product maintains a shelf life of up to 12 months.

Applications Across Industries

This compound finds use in multiple sectors, including water and wastewater treatment, agriculture, construction, and the food industry (as E526). It is used for soil stabilization, pH regulation, sanitation, and sugar refining. Available in both food and technical grades, Calcium Hydroxide meets BIS/ISI or international quality standards and comes from reliable dealers, distributors, manufacturers, and suppliers across India.

FAQs of Calcium Hydroxide:

Q: How should Calcium Hydroxide be properly stored to maintain its quality?

A: Calcium Hydroxide should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area, away from acids and moisture. Proper storage conditions help retain its effectiveness and maximize its shelf life of up to 12 months.

Q: What are the primary industrial and food-related uses of Calcium Hydroxide?

A: This chemical is used for water treatment, soil stabilization, construction, pH regulation, and sanitation. In the food industry, it is classified as E526 and is commonly used in food processing and sugar refining.

Q: When handling Calcium Hydroxide, what safety measures should be followed?

A: Appropriate personal protective equipment such as gloves, eye protection, and dust masks is recommended. The substance can irritate skin and eyes, so direct contact or inhalation of dust should be avoided.

Q: Where is Calcium Hydroxide sourced and how is it packed for distribution?

A: Calcium Hydroxide is manufactured and supplied by dealers, exporters, and wholesalers throughout India. It is packed in 25 kg and 50 kg HDPE bags or as per customer requirements to ensure safe transportation and storage.

Q: What is the process behind Calcium Hydroxides application in water treatment?

A: In water treatment, Calcium Hydroxide raises pH levels, aids in coagulation, and removes impurities. Its fine particle size (1525 microns) allows for efficient dissolution and reaction in water systems.

Q: What are the benefits of using Calcium Hydroxide in agriculture and construction?

A: In agriculture, it improves soil quality and pH balance, enhancing crop yields. In construction, it stabilizes soil, is used in mortars and plasters, and regulates setting times, contributing to structural durability.
